Manor farm leisure

Peg 19 Middle Pool
67lb 8oz
No good
5th
7 fished?

Fancied the peg, however it didn't go well at all....  Caught on and off the first 2.5 hours and the last 2.5 hours was a bit shocker.  Caught five fish down the edge from 3pm to 3.20pm and then bright sun come out and killed it, not that it mattered as I was well off the pace.  Caught 17 F1's and 3 carp and got neck ache.

Alders Farm fishery - Spring league Round 4

Peg 3
77lb 8oz
4 points
Team had 18 points out of 24 points
Joint first on the day
4th overall in league

Peg 3 again, the team can place on our anglers and considering I had some right " dolly" pegs in the winter league we decided  for me to go on peg 3.  Don't get me wrong, peg 3 is a good peg, but at the moment pegs 1, 2 and 30 are pretty awesome at the moment and are VERY hard to beat.  In reflection I felt I made some wrong decisions which cost the team a couple of points, as I felt that my peg was worth 90lb!!!  Weights were tight, look at weight board below.
Colmic Next Adventure 45..... cracking rod for Alders Farm.

9401 X3
The Colmic 9401 carp pole, is a "show stopper", I haven't seen anything better than this pole for a true performance.  When WE product test, we use the product to the extreme.  The pole is stiff, strong, a beautiful smooth finish, able to slap without snapping sections and will last you for a few seasons!!!   Great investment.  Why buy a brittle pole???

The Colmic 9401 is stronger than my Colmic Airon F44 and ive been using one for four years without any broken sections!!!  Enough said.

The carp were a little on the small side for Alders Farm standards...

Lessons learnt.

Meat.... Sizes is so important and unfortunately I didn't know what to take.  I can't give you advise you on something I don't known.   Feeding seems to be little and oftened.  Casters or hemp with meat is a good shout too.

Meat feeder needs to go through a maggot riddle, and is bulk out with crushed hemp?

Lindholme Lakes - Open match

Peg 14 Loco
57lb
3rd overall
28 fished

I was looking forward to today's match at Lindholme as Thurdays open match is normally on Bonsia which is worth a few bites.  However when driving down the track, it was full of anglers (private match). O well, so we were on Williows, and then Neil (owner) decided to put Loco as 28 anglers turned up.

Drew peg 14 Loco, which meant nothing to me.  Was told to fish for F1's on pellets long shallow and ping pellets.  Awesome, sounds like Island Pool at Manor Farm Leisure.  However a hour into the match it looked bleak, I only caught 3 small F1's on maggots over micro down the edge.  There was quite a few pike down the edge, which I guess was spawning?

So decided to fish 14.5 meters of my trustee Colmic F44 pole, and fish worms and casters.  Tossed potted some minced worms and casters, and saw a pike roll over the line and the float flew under and thought here we go, but turned out to be 3lb F1!!!  Pike rolled again on my line and yet was catching F1's...... just shows they swim together???  After 20 mintues of catching 4 F1's, I finally hooked a pike, which was 7lb, but pulled out at netting range.  Not sure if they count?

I couldn't figure it out.  I didn't know how much to feed down the edge.  Full toss pot seemed better, got a response.  But wouldn't last and had unproductive other lines, couldn't fish to the left, as massive tree in the way.  Long in open water was unproductive, even after relentless feeding ALL match, only had one small F1.

Frustrating day.  Lack of knowledge on water, left me short.  Came third overall, but felt should of won.

Lindholme Lakes - Fish O Mania

Peg 5 Strip
47lb
3rd on Lake (20 on Lake)
2nd in ten peg
297 anglers fished.

Always going to be tough to compete against the corner legs, especially as they also ad an empty peg, to give them more room.  I understand the logic. 24 pegs, hosting 20 anglers.  If I pegged, I'd honestly do the same.

On arrive to the peg, it looked motionless!  Bright sun, flat, not a breath of wind and freezing this morning.  Texted Ben Frisk, and advised it "wasn't clever".  Guy on pet 6 decided not to fish, so gave me and Andy Berry a little more room.

The match started alright, had an F1 after 5 mintues pinging 4mm pellets reasonably aggressive, trying to draw the silly/ stupid fish....  Didn't happen really, caught a few early and a few at 2pm and last hour was dire.  A bit gutted really.  Oh well BONSAI tomorrow!!

Gear used

Colmic F44 Pole
Yellow 2.1 hollow
0.135 spider line 0.10 stream

Alders Farm - spring league Round 3

  • Peg 3
  • 54lb
  • 3 points out of 8.
  • Team came 4th on day
  • Team is fourth overall in league at the moment.

I knew I would be up against it fishing peg 3, as its very hard to beat pegs 1, 2 and 30.  So would of been happy with 4th, 5 points, not 6th and 3 points.  Let the team down.

Liam Dennick won his section with 44lb off peg 11.  The guy has a natural ability, won yesterday at Manor Farm Leisure and wins section today!!!

Liam Dennick

Glen came fourth in his.  Glen showed his feeder skills again.

Manor Farm Lesiure

Peg 14
110lb
3rd overall
18 fished

Peg 14 island is a great peg, especially with the next peg been peg 6, so have loads of water to go for.  The reason they leave so much room is because the feeder chuck is tight.  So the beauty of Manor is Dave (the owner) tries to give you as much room as possible.  So 18 anglers is spread over two lakes.  Middle Pool and Island pool.

If me, I feel this is a good feeder peg at the moment.  So kitted up a couple of pellet feeder rods, but to be mindful to chuck it short for F1's and carp tight.  Loose feed the bomb line with 6mm coppins pellets and fish the pole at 14 meters and the edge to peg 13.

The match started slowly for me and Alan Smith on peg 16.  I had a tiny F1 first chuck and sat watching peg 6 island catch well on the bomb about 20 meters.  So decided to chuck it 3/4 quarters for a bitelsss ten minutes.  Then chucked it about 3 meters off island and started to catch.  One thing I will mention is that I had no liners!!   I caught a couple of carp, up to 8lb.  Alan on peg 16 was catching F1's on bomb.

The pole line was awful, no bites. So decided to ping the bomb line proper after two hours.

At one clock I had a steady run of fish on pellet feeder 3 meters off island and had a couple of fish on pole.  Dropped on lead and caught some F1's.  So decided to alter between bomb and pellet feeder.  This was best, was hopefull on pole, but wasn't as "solid" as I'd hoped for.

Summary

Should of won the match, but the top 6 would be all saying the same thing.  I should of fished, bomb, waggler and pellet feeder.  Simple.  Should of realised quicker that fish weren't tight against the island.

Alders Farm Round 2 of spring league

Peg 19
38lb 6oz
Won section
8 anglers in a section
24 fished

Unfortunately I missed the first round of Alders Farm spring league due to work commitments (joys of two jobs).  I was told and saw the results from two weeks ago I was told it fished really hard.  Liam Dennick said that was no fish moving two weeks ago and today there were fish moving around and blowing, so was hopeful for a few bites.

Ricky Quick said he draw my peg two weeks ago and only had 4 fish, so must of be mega tough!! So we will see....

I was sure what to start on, so started on the pole and didn't have a bite for 15 mintues, so chucked the waggler, which I have been pinging 6 mm pellets from the off and was rewarded in a 2lb stunning Common Carp and no bites?  So chucked the pellet feeder, and it went round with a 6oz common carp.  Looking around, it was a struggle for most, they were catching on the early pegs and my team mate Glen Picton.

If am honest, which I am, I couldn't figure out how to catch, so chopped and changed to catch 15 carp for 38lb.

Team wise we were third on the day with 16 points and 17 won!!
