Todber Manor- Hillview. Pole only

Peg 60
272lb
Won match
27 anglers fished today's 13 metre pole only match on Hill View.

Driving on the way I was thinking, with 28 booked on it was going to be quite tight with EVERY peg is in.  So I, like a few anglers was concerned that it may fish hard and especially as been a pole only match and 13 metre limit too!!  Would the 180 mile round trip be worth it??

I drew peg 60, which is a great peg, especially with the point of the island, so shoort method chuck..... oh yeah, pole match.

I had a flying start at 4 metres on paste, first 30 mintues was awesome, then went iffy, when to 11 metres for skimmers.... I was useless.  Went short and filled in it and caught well.... last hour wasn't great (only had 43lb) thought I'd blew it.  Was surprised to have a 272lb... thought I honestly had a low 200lb.

The venue fished unbelievably well, with 27 on it, only 1 empty peg.  You need 180lb to win a section!!!  Not many venues are capable of this!!!

Rig was simple, 0.18 straight through, 3 no 8 Jon Walker Paste Float.  Feed 4mms and 2mms.  Small piece of paste on 14.  Simple.

Todber Manor

Todber Manor today.

Peg 35.

Wind off my shoulder, felt I had no chance of winning.  This is not the best of areas, so was disappointed where I drew.

Fished paste short (4 metres) and worms at 7 metres.  Fished for skimmers.  2.5 hours in, I had 9lb 10oz silvers and maybe 10 small carp.  Felt embarrassed.

Change of approach and my edges came good last 2.5 hours, "not last 40 mintues" and weighed 250lb for 4th overall.  5 maggots best hook bait.

I felt I did well to catch what I did, but was so far behind, it was hard to stay motivated, but when the carp came down the edge, it was unreal.

24 fished.

What a venue!!!

Manor Farm Leisure

Peg 21 Middle Pool
36lb
No good
37 fished.

Unreal on the turn out today compared to yesterday, only 6 yesterday and yet today 37.  Great turn out, but with 20 anglers on Middle Pool, this was going to make it tough for most.  Ideally draw the ends or the middle of Middle   Island pool, bigger lake, and 17 on it.  "Ideally draw Island Pool"........ nope I drew peg 21 Middle Pool.  In my opinion not the best of draws.  Sure enough it was a mega tough match.  Only caught 7 carp, 2 small skimmers and a couple of perch for 36lb.  48lb won the section by default (well done to Dixey Jnr).... Joe won the lake on peg 19 Middle Pool, he caught big fish, mainly down his edge on corn I think.

Manor Farm Leisure - Boundary Pool

Manor Farm Leisure today.

Peg 8 Boundary Pool

A little disappointed with turn out, but hey ho.    Caught a couple of Whales on paste short and odd F1's and loads of skimmers at 5 metres.

Caught really well shallow last hour, 15 ish F1's.

I weighed 108lb for a little win.....

Mick Telling Memorial - Farmers and Brimslade

An annual event that I organise in memory of my late dad.  Unfortunately this year it clashed with a lot of matches and people had to cancel (which is fair enough) and a few that forgot to tell me.....

The canal looked spot on at Brimslade, but Farmers was maybe 18 inches down!  Also there is repairs at Croften, therefore the canal is closed, which meant no boats!!  However, this will mean no water movement and therefore fish harder.

I personally didn't fish today, but walked around and took a few photos and a bit of filming, which I enjoyed but was concerned of "skylining" .
