Alvechurch Fisheries

Pairs match at Alvechurch

Best mate Gary Donachie drew peg 13 Horseshoe and struggled for 52lb.

I drew peg 26 Canal.  I had 100 ish Barbel, 15 ish carp, 20 Ide for.... 175lb.  107lb of that was Barbel. Won section, 2nd in lake

I feed 2 pints caster, 1 pint fishery 2mm pellets, 4 pints of hemp, 8 tins of corn, 3/4 kg worms all cut up in a food blender.

Last 30 mintues was awesome on my paste line, as 4 metres. I had 9 carp.

1st Jordon and Morgan 2 points
2nd Mark Malin and Liam Dennick 3 points
3rd Jamie Read and Glen Picton 6 points
4th me and my best mate Donachie 6 points

HOWEVER, there was a mistake with Jamie Read weight.  It was 102lb 15oz.  Not 113lb 1oz.  So really me and Gary Donachie were third.  As Jamie and Glen had 7 points. Chris Rust and Anthony Grigorjevs came 4th as they had a slightly heavier weight.  Now fair play to Jamie Read and Glen Picton as this was all sorted out between the six of us.  And the monies were transferred to a charity called Bliss.  ♥️  Honestly ♥️

Ivy House Lakes- Heron Pool

Peg 14
87lb 6oz
1st place
18 fished

Another trip to Ivy House Lakes on Heron Pool, and unbelievably I've draw peg 14..... not ideal, as I would personally sooner be in the 20's as there tends to be more F1's.  This corner has loads of small carp, well all three times I've draw it, it's been solid with little carp.  So head down, and get loads of bites!!

Manor Farm Leisure - Island and Middle Pools

Manor Farm Leisure

19 fishing.
25 Middle Pool
Awesome 1st 2 hours, very painful 2 hours and alright last 25 mintues.

Thought I'd do the record today.... 80lb in one hour.... caught 8 whales on paste at 5 metres, for at least 60lb and the rest on "overshotted rig".

Ivy House Lakes- Canals

Peg 46
63lb 8oz
Third overall
17 fished

Haven't fished Kingfisher for ages, nice lake, with a good silvers and bonus carp. Therefore when that float goes under, you don't know what it's going to be.

Drew peg 46, which isn't the best, but had the venue expert next to me, Baggin, I hope I'm still bagging at 75 years old.

It was tough, as expected, loads of rain, windy and a lot cooler.  I caught well first and last hour.  Got done by 10oz for second.  All weights are below

Alvechurch Fisheries

Alvechurch Peg 28.

Bung hole in my opinion. BUT some would moan and say:

* heavy rain yesterday ruined it
* shallowest peg on the complex
* wind off my back
* no edge
* tight pegging
* full of snags,  line, top kit, floats
* caught nothing until last 45 minutes at 5 meters on paste.
* wheel spinned out of the car park

In reality it was a challenging day, I should fished a better match, but had 112lb and again felt I should of had more.  Suprised to came 4th out of 16.  I had 15 Carp, 9 skimmers, 1 roach and 4 tiny perch.  I had 7 carp on paste in last 45 minutes for 49lb.

Went in after match, pulled out some line, method feeder, branch, and a top kit!!! That fits my pole.... result, the tip was broke though. I'm after Phil's job

Brilliant venue.

Well done to Mark Malin for winning the match.

Glede - Maver Match This.

  • Peg 55

26lb (4 carp and a small skimmer).
Awful (I was second on the lake up to me).
110 ish fished?

My last chance of a big money of final, all over at the draw. Peg 55.... gutted.  Got no chance of winning the match.  Could of gone straight home, but felt I'd try and win the section.  Final.

Congratulations to Trigger for winning the match with 200lb.  Peg 1.

Alvechurch Fisheries - Mick Telling Memorial Final.

Mick Telling Memorial final.

Alvechurch Fisheries.  Horseshoe Lake.

10 finalists

We were greeted with high winds, as it was well windy today (just in case you didn't know 🌬🌬).   Heavy rain for the last few days was always going to slow the venue down, especially as it will effected more, been so shallow.

I personally drew peg 15, which I've never drawn before.  Foolishly I fancied, carried 6 keepnets to my peg with the intentions of emptying it..... With a warm wind in my face, South West wind too, fancied it, maybe 6 keepnets wouldn't be enough??

My plan of attack was short and edge.  Simple.  Corn, paste, pellets and maggots.

I had a smashing time, cracked my number 7 before the match started, then lost two rigs, 5 hook lengths, broke 5 top kits in my pole roost, blew over, good job I lost two pole rigs, otherwise it would of been 7 top kits, as these were on the floor!!  Pulled out of loads fish, as I couldn't present it in the conditions and they were foul hooked.   Last 2.5 hours my peg was solid..... but run out of maggots.  Only 3 pint rule. Paste didn't work!!!!!!! 1 fish. Truly gutted. This match means the world to me.

My day was carnage, worst match I've possibly ever fished in my life.  Weighed 107lb.... my dad would of beat me if he was still alive for my performance today.   In reflection... should of fish a method feeder down my edge.

1. Gary Etheridge 158lb (peg 25)
2. Jamie Read 148lb (peg 18)
3.  Gary Donachie 114lb (peg 8)
4. Chris Telling 107lb (peg 15)
5. Frank Donachie 105lb (peg 2)

All weights below (in picture).

Thanks to Christopher Fanning for his donation to Cancer Research.

Thank you to John Williams for the wine.

Thanks to Mark Olds for hosting us and making us feel welcome.  Great fishery and it fished quite tough today, believe or not.....

I would like to thank people who have supported this event and raised money towards such a great cause!!

Disappointed with those that can't text or ring....  happened on a three matches this year with no shows!!  As a result next year I'll only run one match at Staits Lake at South Cerney.
