Woodside Lakes

Summer Super Six

Woodside.

21 fishing.

Steve Heath and his wife are running summer league, which consists of six rounds, hence Super Six.  There is two rounds at Woodside, two at Walters Lake and two at Ivy House Lakes.  So Happy Days!!

I've never seen the lake, only pictures, so didn't really have an idea... so put a Facebook post out there, and got some decent info... Meat short, pellets long and groundbait and maggots down the edge!!

I got drawn peg 17, which generally meant nothing to me.... "in the bowl".   Had the wind bowling in my face, so hoped to catch down the edge, which I did.  I got very lucky won section with 63lb carp (9 carp down the edge).  I had 3 in last 18 mintues, which made the difference of first or fourth... so dodged a bullet there!!

Came second overall.

Well done to Frank Donachie who won match on peg 1!! What a legend.

Looking forward to next round already.

All weights below, to give the whole picture of the match.

Rolfs - Silver league. Round 3

Round 3 of Rolfs Silver League

Peg 38
I weighed 4lb 2oz for second in the section (default win) as Nathan on peg 36 gave me a RIGHT battering, he weighed 15lb to win the match. I can't remembering getting such a beating off the next peg, especially mine been an end. Carp...... good gosh, the peg was honestly worth over 200lb.
Thanks to Wayne from Top Tackle for supplying some cracking bait!!

The league I had 2 seconds and 1 last!!!

Gloucester Canal- Spring League. Round 2

Round 2 of spring league on Gloucester Canal

Peg 377

Knew it was going to be tough.... 2 weeks ago unfortunately this peg blanked.  Today I caught 16 fish for 3lb 4oz (12 Perch, 1 Roach, 1 Eel and 2 Ruffe).  Did alright for my area.... but its another "last" by my standards.

Harescombe Fishery - Match Lake

 Round 2 of Fishing Association.

Matthew Vater took me to Harescombe Fishery on the Match Lake.  He draw peg 8 and I drew peg 16 (mine the better peg).  I had a slow couple of hours and Mat was infront of me, he had 5 F1's (one 5lber)  to my 3 F1's in the first hour.   Lucky enough I caught some F1's in the last 2 hours down the edge on 6mm meat.

I weighed 52lb to win the match.  Mat weighed 39lb I believe.

Wish me luck for round 3 next month.

1st Myself 52lb

2nd Vince Grillo 45lb

3rd Matthew Vater 39lb

Rolfs Silver League

 Round 1

Unfortunately I had a clash of matches and therefore had to miss the first round of the silver league.  Derek Newson kindly stood in for me.  He drew peg 9 and sadly caught loads of big Carp.  Derek had 4lb 14oz and he come last in his section, same as me on the Gloucester Canal, a "last".

Round 2

I haven't been to Rolfs Lake for about 3 years, so was really looking forward to it.

John Bennett drew me peg 32, which is a brilliant silvers peg.  So plan of attack was to start short on maggots for roach and leave the 11 metre line alone to settle for skimmers, I put in 5 big balls of Hinders C Food Expander mix on the long line.

The lake fish incredibly hard for silvers, the lake was alive with Carp.  I weighed 5lb to come second in my section.
