Manor Farm Leisure. Winter League

Round 1

Peg 31 Boundary Pool
34lb
No good
37 fished

I had a lot room like most people on the lake, however only concern was the cold wind blowing in my face.

Started match short, not a bite.  So went long, and unfortunately not a bite, so went on expander and caught a couple of blades and two small F1s.  Already feeling the pain.  So decided to fish a new line at 9 meyers and fished 6mm expander dripping in mircos, 4mm and odd 6mm pellets.  This was steady had a run of bites.  Mainly 4oz to 6oz skimmers and odd F1's.  I was pinging my 14 meter line and hoped to build this up and have a cracking last hour..l.... didnt happen.

Island Pool - Manor Farm Leisure

Peg 16 Island
46lb
2nd in section, 3rd on lake
No good in my opinion
13 fished

With the winter league just around the corner, i wanted to get some more practice in at Manor Farm Leisure, especailly on the lead (bomb and pellets).

Peg 16 on Island Pool is my home, wouldn't be my first choice of pegs on Island personally, it can be good, but honestly it hasn't framed for while.   Not sure why, so say the airetor has been moved?!

Unfortunately caught a few in first and hour and some in the last 1 hour 30 mintues, but half the match i was lost and caught nothing.....  praying for a draw on Saturday!!
No lies
The lakes did fish well, everyone caught and had a few bites.  Ash Pool was awesome, and Dave Howard made no mistake off peg 7 Ash Pool and a massive weight of 169lb!!!

Manor Farm Leisure - Middle and Boundary Pools

Peg 39 Boundary Pool
58lb
Second on lake
6th overall
24 fished

Nice draw peg 39 Boundary Pool.  Fancied it, especially as the fish do sometimes sit in the middle of the lake at times and my peg was an end peg.  However, the warm ish wind was blowing the other way, into peg 25.  So if the fished followed the wind, i could be in trouble.....

Felt i should of had 90lb plus.

Manor Farm Leisure- Middle and Island Pools

Peg 6 Middle
31lb
No good
20 fished

A painful, lost my first three carp, all foul hooked, even though I fished short at 6 meters.  It was a painful match.  Didn't know what to do..... sat it out on lead, plan was everything would be in mouth.  But this resulted in a fruitless hour.  Back on pole and another 5 lost carp, all hook pulls.  Gutting match with loosing 8 carp.  Alot of anglers suffered this problem today.  I guess too bright and too still and therefore they didn't feed well?!

Manor Farm Leisure- Island and Middle Pools

Peg 12 Middle Pool
92lb 4oz
Match Win
20 fished

Thursday affordable match at Manor Farm Leisure.  And after Sundays match on the River Avon I needed a pick me up peg.  So drew peg 12 Middle Pool, which is sometimes an unpredictable peg, and you tend to catch more carp down this end....normally.  Also looking at results at Manor Farm Leisure, peg 25 Middle won on Saturday's match and peg 6 Middle won Tuesday and Wednesday (yesterday) matches.  So thats on the rope at 60 ish yards away....

Carp is on my mind and it can be a waiting game, which I find difficult at times.  So chucked a Guru hybrid feeder with a 8mm Baittech juice em.  This resulted in 2lb F1 first chuck, welcome but not what I hoped for....

Jon Walker 0.15 gram down the edge was best rig on the day.

I caught on a bit of everything to be honest, but had half my weight down the edge.
Weighed 94lb to win the match.

6mm pellet was best on feeder.

Bars of gold at Manor Farm Leisure

All the weights.  No lies on my blog/s

Chippenham- Bristol Avon

Peg 15
DNW
56 ish

Drew peg 15 on Sucide Straight, two pegs down from the Oak tree.  Not ideally, good waggler peg for some small chublets, a chance of skimmers and loads of roach.... but honestly, really up against it (i drawn Sucide Straight three years on the bounce).

Plan of attack

Start at 6 meters on 2 balls of groundbait to rest my skimmer line at 13 meters.... this was great, 6 roach in six puts ... then dead.
So went on 13 meter line, and had a run of roach maybe 10 in as many puts for about 1lb 4oz, good stamp.... quick look on chop at 16 meters after feeding 2 BIG bait droppers of worm and caster, no bites.  No problem, back on 13 meter line, for another 20 mintues, a few roach and bleak.  Went on chop for 10 long mintues no bites.  WTF.  SO started loosing feeding waggler line, and pole faded at 13 meters.  Went on waggler for 15 chucks and not one bite.  Ouch.

With 1.5 hours two go, was going no where, and I fish to win.  So 4 BIG bait droppers at 18 meters  (not Angling Trust rules today) and 3 BIG bait droppers down the peg at 15 meters on 45 degree angle.  Sounded a plan, just put in £14 worth of bait in one hit!!!  I hope for two bites, but caught nothing lol.
The rivers do my head in at the moment.  Today's sucide straight lived to its name!!!

No wheel spinning out the car park.  I can take it on the chin....

Looking at last years results.... i drew Suicide Straight again, but drew the Oak Tree.

Boards weights don't lie!!

Manor Farm Leisure - Island and Middle Pool

Peg 6 Island Pool (best peg in Europe)
70lb 8oz
Won lake (7 on lake)
14 fished

Manor Farm Leisure again today.  Drew the best peg on the complex and the best peg in Europe, peg 6 Island.  No pressure then!!

The wind was mega today, so rods and more rods and 8mm pellets was my main attack.  Hoped for a few fish on the 5 meters line on the pole..... err nothing.  It was a waiting game and was lucky to have two big carp in the last 20 mintues, which would of gone 20lb.  So was lucky.

Feel i should of had 100lb off this peg, done a few things wrong.  Need to sort out my lead fishing out.

Best part of the day, 2 for 1 with the two Gary's

Waiting game again.

All weights.... no lies

Manor Farm Leisure - Thursday affordable

Peg 12 Ash
76lb
Won lake
Third overall
21 anglers fished the match

Manor Farm Leisure today.

Started 5 meters, 1 skimmer after 5 mintues, then it was crazy 3 proper fish in 5 mintues.  Then dead....

Went long, 14.5 meters, and caught nothing.  Worrying.  Chucked lead abd caught two fish, one proper carp and a F1.... then again dead.  At 2pm, few lads started catching... hada few on long pole.  Rotate methods and lines was the key to catching today.  Had 4 fish down the edge in the last 25 mintues.

Manor Farm Leisure- Thursday affordable

Peg 15 Windmill
104lb
Won lake (only 6 on lake)
Second overall
12 fished

Manor Farm Leisure today, going to focus my winter fishing on this venue, as its fairly local and more importantly worth a few bites.  Travelled quite a lot through tge summer on different venues.

Thursday affordable open was on Windmill and Ash which are normally great pole lakes and I drew peg 15 Windmill, which is an awesome peg and an end peg.  Fancied a long edge couple of meters from the bank, hoped for a few units.......

I caught F1's steady throughout the whole match mainly at 17 meters on 6mm Marukyu Animo Pellets over 4mms.  I tried to catch short, in open water at 14.5 meters and down the edge, but failed only managed a couple of stockie F1's.

I weighed 104lb, which won the lake (only 6 on the lake) and came second overall. My second best best mate destroyed the match with 178lb on peg 7 Ash, so he only just won!!

Jon Walker floats.  0.2 gram was good in 2 foot of water.

Beautiful lake is Windmill Pool.

Bars of gold these F1'S

Lack of carp, stopped me from having a massive weight.  178lb is massive weight from Windmill, aint know anyone to do a big weight from Windmill Pool 😂

Loads of bites and a great day, learnt a bit.  So hoping for a good winter.  Had an AWFUL one last year
