Manor Farm Leisure - Boundary Pool

Peg 12
43lb 10oz
2nd overall

After a load of cold rain and sleet for the last couple of days it fished a lot harder than normal, but still had a great days fishing, plenty of bites.

I caught best 0.6 prototype diamond float.  With 4mm Bait Tech expander pellet on the hook. Feed 4 and 2mm coarse pellet.

Well done to Andy Stone for winning with 56lb.  Andy caught all his fish on the pole.

Peg 7 Middle
71lb
Won match
20 fished.

I little disappointed with the drew, didn't moan, but thought I would be up against it!

1. wind was howling in my face
2. cold rain was always going to lower the temperature even lower (water was 3.8 in the morning)
3. Peg 7 has a had no form for while, the fish were, have been, the other side of the rope
4. Could see loads of fish blowing in the flat water before match starting to the right.
5. A few fish blowing 25 meters out.

plus side

1. End peg, but there was 4 out of the 5 pegs!
2. I've got yellow meat and prepared to wait!!

I caught 1 f1 second chuck on popped up bread (50cm of 0.188 Colmic Spider Line).  A couple of liners (makes a change) and put yellow meat on and still liners.   So went on the pole, I fished my Colmic F44 pole into the wild weather, and was lucky enough to catch a steady run of fish.  4 Carp (couple of units) and 4 F1's.  Fished a prototype Pellet Pencil float, 0.4 gram to 0.135mm Spider Line and 0.103 Stream to a 18 Drennan Carp match.

The wind got up and had a nightmare to present the rig, maybe I shouldn't of fished 15 meters!  But wind was super strong and therefore fished a 3 foot of line between pole float and pole tip.  Fished a light 1.5mm Colmic Hollow elastic.  Needed to be super soft with the wind blowing one way and the fish swimming the other!!  I fouled hooked a couple of fish due to poor presentation, and wasn't lucky enough to get them out, lost a 12lber in the tail!

Despite not been able to feel my hands, it was a good day.

Thanks to Dave Bird (owner).  He spread us over 4 lakes.  So we ALL had plenty of room.

Hope the write up was alright Neil Mckinnon?

Manor Farm Leisure WL 6

Peg 9 Middle Pool
DNF (Did not fish)
1 point out of 10.

A bad week at the office, saw me draw peg 9 Middle.  Which unfortunately is another poor draw, peg 9 twice, peg 8 and peg 7, peg 20, and peg 21 all on middle. Sometimes this would of been awesome set of draws. I hate blaming the draw, and the old saying comes to mind " a bad work man always blames his tools".   But wow, can't get away from Middle pool. A love manor and I would never run it down, unlike some!!! ( and still colectomy the venue every week....) This venue is almost always guaranteed bites no matter what the weather!

I went to my peg and sat there staring at the water looking for blows or fish topping, while everybody was kitting up.   Walked up the lake, well away from sky lining (don't you just love them people) and saw the top end of Middle pool alive with fish.  I know I would never complete and didn't wanna spend another 5 hours sat there! So I didn't.

Spoke to my team mates and asked not to fish, especially as the team draw was pretty bad. So rightly or wrongly, I fished the open.
Our team draw was
Big Frank peg 17 Boundary Pool
Glen Picton peg 12 Island Pool
Chris peg 9 Middle Pool

Glen Picton done well again, having drew peg 12 on Island and was third overall. Well done team mate!  Big Frank struggled, but had plenty of bites on peg 17 boundary pool.

Only weights that were received. Will try and get more....

Chris Cameron, Steve Ford and Mike Robinson (Old Ghost) won the league. Well done

Peg 15 Ash Pool
48lb
3rd
12 fished

From what would of been a tough day, turned into plenty of bites, but couldn't catch the stockies in.any numbers, so caught a load of skimmers and some stockies for 48lb. But_ wasted and forced peg trying to catch carp and stockies. Hundreds of fish topping the other side of the rope.  So Ash pool still has a lot of fish in there, despite the rumours you may or may not of heard.

Ash pool has a massive head of skimmers

Manor Farm Leisure

Peg 29 windmill
60lb
Won lake
1st overall
15 fished

I was pleased to draw Windmill lake, as it fished really well yesterday and it was out of the wind today.

I ensured that I had more positive rigs today, so kitted up
1 gram rig with 0.153 spider line to 0.125 stream and 14 501.
0.8 gram x 2. Same as above, but with 14 and 16 501
0.6 gram 0.135 spider line to a 0.103 stream 16 501
0.3 gram 0.153 spider line to a 0.125 stream 16 501
0.4 gram 0.135 spider line to 0.103 stream 18 Drennan carp match.

I use colmic airon F44 POLE.

Elastics were Colmic Hollow 1.5 and 1.8mm

Bait simple. Pellets and more pellets.

The match didn't go as planned.  I thought it would be soild with stockies... My first fish was after a worrying 12 minutes which was a common carp about 2lb.  The baggin rig was replaced with 0.6 gram rig, which was better! But line was too short which hinded my presentation, also felt soft pellets wasn't right, unlike yesterday.  So got off my box and set up another rig, but had 3 foot between my pole and pole tip. This may seem excessive, but worked well, the rig wasn't getting jerked around and the pole was way off the water, which I do think helped in the gin clear water (less shadow over the water).

I had a good run of fish about 1pm. Nothing crazy, but an eight pound carp and 3 BIG F1'S in a short space of time was a relief.  I had some big skimmers as well!!

4 carp for 20lb
10lb skimmers
30lb of f1's

Great days fishing.
