Tirely Court- Pete's Lake

Glad to be back match  fishing.... its been a LONG three months.

Moaning Sods had a match on Tirely Court which is great, as its just up the road from my house.   Thanks lads for letting me join the club.... I am officially a "clubie".

I drew peg 1, which was an end peg and the wind off my back, so "happy days".  The lake fished unbelievably hard and I caught all my fish on 6mm pellet feeding a few mircos pellets.  Had a good run in the last 45 minutes down the edge.

Nice to be back match fishing, a friendly 10 pegger on Tirely Court, Pete's Lake.

Weighed 82lb for a little win.

Ivy House Lakes - Heron Pool

  •  Peg 23
  • 111lb 8oz
  • Third overall
  • 13 Fished

Back to Heron lake at Ivy House Lakes, which I have missed, as I haven't fished it for a while.  Neil drew me peg 23, which is a good peg, to be honest at this time of year I believe the lake is very fair.

I set up shallow, edges, deck rigs, and a paste rig (October).  Andy (owener) advised me to get the paste as a few of the locals had caught on it really well despite the weather been a little cold for "normal paste fishing".

I started at 4 metres on 6mm expander and caught immediately, but small carp and a couple of carp that didn't count (the small carp 1 to 2oz) to be swung in and then put back (to protect future stock).  The fish had already offspring!  This made me go to paste and it was solid, the first hour see me have 32lb, then I had spells of catching well and period of not. Edges didn't really come alive and unfortunately only caught 4oz to 6oz fish... I should of gone longer and shallow, but I felt my peg would get stronger been on an "end peg" and the last hour I would bag up!!!   Err wrong, the last hour proved tough and see me, like a few others fade away.  I'm not complaining, I had a good days fishing, but wanted to do better in the overall standings.

Mawgan Porth

This is a guide to how I would fish Mawgan Porth match lake, how it helps.  My last three visits to this venue has seen me win the match, third overall and a section in the section.  So decent results, I always fish it at the beginning of September and our matches that I have fished has had 19 anglers plus.  I'm not expert, but I hope my guide will help you?

Mawgan Porth is a beautiful venue in the heart of Cornwall.  Its owed and run by Trevor who is really helpful and friendly guy.  The fish are stunning, fin prefect and fight really hard as they are so healthy.

For me I'd fish a negative match, big pots of bait are a no no.... unless you fishing down the edge, bit most of the time I'd try and starve them on the hook.

Match Lake pegs

Peg 1 is on the gate, isn't normally in the matches.

Peg 8 on the bridge

Peg 14 on point of the Island

Peg 16 on lilly pads

Peg 18 on bottom bank, edge of lilly pads

Peg 22 on the point of the Island (16 metres).  Its 4 foot against the bank infront and to the right by the reeds its 5 foot.

Peg 27 On the airetor

Peg 34 end peg (tougher end, unless the warm wind is blowing into it).
