Another trip to Todber Manor today, in hope to win a match to get into the "King of Manor" final in April.
Drew peg 61, and all the locals say you wanna draw in the wind. So feared it could be tougher area, as the wind was howling into the other end of the lake. But I stayed optimistic...... set up three paste rigs, two pellet rigs, three margin rigs and method feeder. The reason for the many rigs was incase of tangles or breakages as you going to need excess of 200lb to win, even with 26 on the lake.
I love these floats down the edge..
Started on paste at 4 meters and caught small carp really well. Just fished 0.18 straight through to 0.3 gram Jon Walker paste float. Ideally feed when playing fish, ideally feed as soon as you pulled the fish gently out of swim, it settles and then hopefully repeat the process..... "bagging" is normally about be smooth and not rushing.
Edges is normally feeding after every fish to regroup them as they waft the bait around and when hooking fish they can spook. To keep spooking to a minimum, i only use 2.5mm elastic. 0.18 straight through and a bulk that is two inches from hook. Important. 4 maggots on a 16 B911 extra strong.
Bait used
2 bags Amino Pellets 2mm
1 bag Amino pellets 4mm
1 tin of corn
2 bags of EFG151
1 bag of pellet skruch
A few maggots and old casters.
I'm no expert on the venue. Only fished it three times, but hope info above helps and its all true. All weights below, gives real picture on the match.
