Rolfs Lake - Easter Festival

Day 1
Peg 17
104lb
Won Section
Won match

Colmic Poles are so strong

Good start to Rolfs Easter Festival, however got another two days left and need some good draws.  I would really like to win this Festival, as I've never got close, always there or thereabouts.   Caught all my fish on hard pellets, nice day.
W
Day 2
Peg 4
18lb (all silvers)
Third in section

Gutted to draw peg 4, I seem to draw the same pegs every year.  I had it in 2015 Easter Festival, and only had 30lb for 5th in section.  2014 I drew peg 5 and had 121lb and the guy on peg 4 was and still is class and weighed 45lb.  I had peg 4 in 2013 and blow out with 2oz, which beat two anglers!!

It was struggle, caught 5 skimmers and a few roach and no carp....  I really tried hard to catch carp and sat it out or two fruitless hours without any success.  Fair play Steve Waters bagged one (15lber) and lost a monster on the dreaded peg 40!!

Day 3
Peg 30
12lb (all roach)
Fourth in section

To be fair, I felt this would be the fairest section out of the three, so wasn't too concerned where I drew.  I fancied peg 8 or peg 13.  But has to make do with peg 30.  This had a three carp caught on it the day before, so was hopeful.

The turned out to be a mega tough match.  No signs of carp again, so a fruitiness 10 hours of carp.  Also either side of me never had a carp either for both days.  I like to add that the lake is full of colour and there was a lot of fish moving around top of the lake, pegs 19 and 20.

Manor Farm Leisure

  • Peg 23 Island
  • 62lb
  • won section/lake (only 5 on a lake)
  • 14 fished
  • 5th overall
It's funny that some pegs you keep drawing, and for me I seem to keep drawing peg 23 Island.  For me, I not a great lover of the peg, as its deep on pole line and a short chuck to island.  Don't get me wrong, peg 23 on its day is a great peg, can be awesome in the winter.

Caught well on pole, F1's.

Swans seemed happy

Manor Farm Leisure - Boundary Pool

Peg 9
28lb
No good
12 on the lake
36 fished

this fatty went 14lb.... half my total weight

I was guesting for Harescombe Fishery again in the last round of Manir Farm Leisures winter league.  I was on Boundary Pool, which is a lake that I really enjoy and normally is kind me.... Boundary Pool fished hard yesterday in the Open match with only 45lb winning off peg 36. The favoured pegs which I'd would of like to of draw would be Peg 19, 31 and 38, but I drew peg 9.  Liam Dennick was on there yesterday and struggled.  So I was likely and did do the same.

The wind was spot on, I had some ripple, alright it wasn't the warmest, but I felt I would catch a few on the pole.  So fished 14.5 meters of my Colmic F44 pole, with normal rigs.  Also set up straight lead and. Pellet feeder.  Simple.

The match was slow, I really struggled, Stich started well of the lead and pellets on peg 17 and Jason Morries also on peg 37.  For us on our bank it was really tough.  I really struggled to catch on anything, and the first hour small me have one small "stocky" F1 ( first chuck) and a skimmer on the pole.  Oh dear.  So potted in 150 4mms and hoped it would have a positive effect.  Nope.  Looking around the lake, I was going to need 50lb plus to do any good, so I decided not to fish micro and maggots and sit it out on the yellow meat.  First chuck after 15 meters saw me land a 14lber and then second chuck after a long 45 mintues I can another carp, but unfortunately only 6lb.  So chucked it again and after 45 mintues decided to wind it back in empty handed, was gutted.  Shipped out of the pole, where I had been blasting it with 4 mms pellets, saw me catch one F1 on the "tap and rap" and on small F1 on the deck.. That was my match.

2 carp
3 F1's
2 skimmers
2 pawn sandwiches
2 mars bars
Packet of crisps
And a sun tan.

Manor Farm Leisure - Island Pool and Boundary Pool

  • Peg 36 Island Pool
  • 74lb
  • 2nd overall
  • 19 fished
Lucky and caught some big carp.

With Boundary and Island in today's open, I'd hope to draw island as I felt that this would be the better lake..... Boundary Pool can be moody lake.  However, I drew peg 36, which isn't the best of draws at the moment I fell.  So set up two feeder rods (Colmic Next Adventure 60 rods), a waggler rod (Colmic Professional 25 rod) and one pole rig on my trustee Colmic Airon F44 pole.  I felt it would be a "rod job today".

On the bright side it looks like Spring is finally here?  Makes a change to not be sat in gale force winds and playing tug of war with my pole.

The match started really slow for me and I felt the worse, but it was after twenty mintues where I caught a small F1 and normally these fish are a shoal fish and therefore was lucky enough to catch a few more, but was concerned after 1 hour and 30 minutes I had 9 F1's and I was likely to be last on the lake.  But I had been feeding the pole at 16 meters, so went on it and after an age, the float disappeared and I caught a F1 and then was fortunate to catch a few welcome carp, but did loose a few, just pulled out, one Common Carp broke me at the net as it rolled over 0.11 Spider Line, but the fish did take me to the Island and back, which was a little extreme.  This line is that tough and I do swear by it to give me more bites with it Fluro Tech.  Do take your time tieing the knots and over wet them, so they don't slip.  I have had two anglers moan about it on Facebook.  One angler turned out that they never even owned it, and the other was more impressed with X5000 line, which is fair enough as line is a peronsal preference.   Disappointed that someone would slag off a product that they haven't used....

I was surprised that I weighed 74lb, as I felt I had about 50lb and blew my chances as the last hour saw me catch nothing!  Frank Donache said I would be surprised what I would have and he was right.

Really nice to see some new faces.  Island as an whole fished consistently, see weight broad below, Boundary was a bit tougher.  Gary Watts won Boundary Pool with 54lb, well done mate and Simon Shaw won the match with 96lb.

I can see my venue record of 350lb been beaten this year, hopefully by myself, I can see 400lb been caught on Middle or Island pool.

Tunnel Barn Farm - Fish O Mania

Top 5
DNW
150 fished the match

My match was mega tough and after two and half hours I knew deep down I want going to do no good.  As I went for a walk I noticed the guys around 10 and 12 top pool were catching well.  So my match was over.  So out came the camera

My match, I caught;

2 F1'S
1 Ide
8 skimmers
5 roach
3 sandwiches
4 double deckers!!

A massive well done to Jamie Hughes winning the match (141lb!!) and becoming a Fish O Mania finalist again!!! I wouldn't bet against him in the final.

Manor Farm Leisure

Peg 16 Island
36lb
No good
17 fished

We (me and Frank) were to draw today, he drew peg 18 and I drew 16.  The £1 bet was on....

Me and Frank has a good battle.

Hoped to get a run of fish on pellet feeder, but didn't happen and unfortunately I couldn't catch and Tony next to me had caught well in last hour on bomb about 25 meters, where "Fred the bread Parker" had caught on the same line on and off for most of the day!  Well done Fred on winning the lake!

I think I was due a bad un. I've had quite a decent run at Manor Farm Leisure.

Hopefully I'll drawn socks off at Tunnel Barn Farm on Saturday on the Fish O Mania.
