Top 3 of the Milo Festival
36 points 416lb Mick Jones
36 points 469lb Darren Cox
36 points 438lb Des Shipp

Summary of Milo Festival at White Acres.
An great 5 days away, a great holiday and had a right laugh. I came 25th overall out of 170 ish anglers.

I made a far too many  wrong decisions:

Porth feed to the pole line too long. Very bad mistake.

Boilingey I feed groundbait down the edge, should of feed 8mm meat.

Match Lake i should of took more meat, only took 1 unit. The peg was worth 160lb, so should of had another 25% plus.

Twin Oaks, should of fished a method at the start withdead red's as hook bait. Fish the method for 30 minutes, then fish chop worm and caster at 4 meters. Didn't take caster. So fished chopped worms with pellets. Wasn't right, but managed to catch 50lb of skimmers copying Simon.

Last day, needed a win, to get 33 points, which we thought may get in the top 10, which it didn't anyway!  I feed groundbait down the edge and foul hooked 8 fish and lost everyone!!

I'm impressed with Colmic's Carpodromo nets. They range from 2.5 meters to 4 meters. The shorter length is ideal for 60lb weight limits. Also these nets are very easy to pull through as they are circle rings (no sharp angles to brake rings). The mess is thick and therefore they keep their stiffens in the water.

Fish O Mania - Larford Lakes

  • Peg 33 Match lake.
  • DNW.
  • 130 Anglers fished

Another disappointment, never had a bite the last 2.5 hours. The peg got slowly worse.

I had 7 small carp, 2 f1's, a skimmer and a perch. I would of weighed about 17lb.
2 tickets gone!!!

Andy Geldart won the match on Match Lake peg 22,  with 110lb.

Gold Valley

Peg 129
14lb 6oz
No good.
10 peg Section was won on Peg 123 With 30lb

This proved to be a very tough secton. 30lb won my section. Many people including myself struggled for bites. I had 3. 2 carp and a foul hooker, that ripped the rod in, which i played for a about a minute and came back with a huge scale.

I used my Colmic Pro Feed 10ft, nice rod for a retail of £60.  Set up wise was 0.20 method line and 0.18 F1 line,  to Drennan 16 carp feeder. Simple. 8mm pellet on the hook. Also caught on pop up, 8mm. Used a 14 carp feeder.

I had one fish on pellet and the other on pop up.

Manor Farm Leisure

Peg 34 Windmill
172lb
Won lake
2nd overall.
16 fished.

I was concerned that the wind was blowing down the other end of the lake and therefore I could struggle. Dave Bird paid they were catching lots of fish there yetersfay.
I fished 18 meters to island and caught about 100lb of F1's and a few carp. Fished 13 meters to my right side, and caught 70lb of carp, but no big ones, only up to 6lb. So plenty of bites! Good day.
Middle Lake fished really well, plenty of fish caught across the whole lake. Shaun Little won the match with 194!!

Ivy House Lakes

Peg 35
63lb (7lb silvers 4 skimmers)
8th
No good
22 fished.

My second visit to Ivy House Lakes didn't go so well today.

Des Shipp won the match with a very impressive 170lb, a new venue record, fair play.

Ivy House fished really well in places! With 3 plus ton weights.

A lot people lost decent fish today, including myself, these big fish can be a waiting game and therefore feed 1\4 pot of 4mm and 2mm pellets and sit it out. Will have to fish heavier, as fishing 0.104 Stream was way too light. Will fish heavier and wait longer. With a lot of fish knocking 12lb to 18lb. These fish are proving hard to catch at the moment.  Give it another month to six weeks and I can see the lake fishing really well!!! I think a big 200lb will go very soon.
