Alders Farm Fishery

Peg 22
136lb
1st place
10 fished

Haven't been to Alders Farm Fishery for ages, so was looking forward to it, even if it was mother day (sorry mum, taking her out Wednesday).  Set off early, as it is quite fair for me, in the new van 😏.

On arrival see Trevor and Lewis, got talking and looking forward to seeing there new tackle shop, fair play guys.  I was lucky and had the last peg in the drawing bag, which was peg 22.  The dam wall, which is an area that has been cruel.  However, today, it was surly going to be a flyer, wind blowing into me and loads to of room.  Game on?!

It was a slow start and never had a bite on the pole for twenty minutes and therefore chucked a inline feeder, which small me catch two tiny, but prefect common carp and then toning for another twenty mintues.  Worrying.... So went on the pole and after 10 long mintues, I had a furly of carp.  Which was a relief more than anything.  Ricky had been catching well on the feeder to island.  So had a lot of catching up to do.

I caught fish on and off on the pole and pellet line at 13 and 14.5 meters.  Then wait down the edge with mircos and maggots to have 6 quick carp down the edge, game on.  Caught steady for last hour and was lucky to just beat Ricky by 6lb.  All weights below.

Colmic Airon F66, really does tick ALL the boxes

Alvechurch

Peg 7
44lb 10oz
2nd
10 fished

My second visit to Alvechurch fisheries, learnt a few things from last week, as I made quite a few mistakes.

I was simply going to fish maggots and fishery pellet mirco pellets.  I know the edges are important and need to be selective with your maggots as there is a 3 pint limit and I planned to fish maggots everywhere in the peg.

Tackle used

Colmic Airon F66 Pole.

Edge rig
0.2 Colmic Sky float
0135 Colmic Spider Line
0.115 Colmic Stream
18 WN501 hook

4x14 Colmic Po float
0.135 Colmic Spider Line
0.103 Colmic Stream
18 WN501 hook.

Manor Farm Leisure

Peg 27 Middle Pool
62lb.
7th overall
No good
30 fished

Potentially a great drew, as the peg is an end peg, don't tell Martyn Howard.....

The match was frustrating, slow start and then had a run of F1 carp, but again after 1pm the end and me were awful.   I struggled for bites and let Harry down too, as he sat with me all match....
Liam Dennick is on a roll at the moment....

Fish come way too late down the edge.  Nightmare.  2 in last 15 mintues

Kennet and Avon Canal

Peg 30
Upper Dunmill
7lb 2oz
No good

Kevin Rowles gave me a whooping.  11lb 14oz

Fished an Open match at Hungerford today.  Was surprised on arrival how clear it was and the trees cut back..... got to love British water ways?!

Drew next to my angling hero and got battered.  Kevin has 11lb 14oz to my disappointing 7lb 2oz.

  1. Matt Herbert won the match. 12lb 11oz
  2. Kevin Rowles 11lb 14oz
  3. Brett Cooper 10lb 8oz

Fished quite well for most.  Needed 7lb ish to win most sections.

Thanks to John Williams for running a good match.   Great pegging, as we had plenty of room.

I believe his running another next weekend...

Alvechurch Fisheries

Peg 13 Horseshoe Lake
48lb
2nd Overall
9 fished

My first visit at Alvechurch Fisheries, and I drew peg 13 on Horseshoe lake, which was a flyer and the bonus peg!!  Unfortunately it didn't go quite to plan, made a few mistakes and just missed out on bonus peg.  Well done to Phil Evans on the win, 51lb.  Weights were tight.

Manor Farm leisure

Peg 32 Island Pool
43lb
No good
21 fished

I had a bad day.  Drew peg 32 Island Pool.  Can be a good F1 area, but weathers changed and the fish were likely to follow the wind....  which they did.  Had a frustrating day, had 18 F1's and 1 small carp for 43lb.  However lost eight fish, all hook pulls, not all foul hooked.  Should of easily won section.... "bad angling".  Should of fished a tidy pole match, as the peg was worth 70lb all day long.
Anyway made my day when Liam Dennick won the match with 150lb.

Venue fished quite well.  See the weights below.
I can honestly see the venue record going this year.  The venue is awesome.

Redhill Fishery

Peg 6
63lb 12oz
3rd on lake individually
4th overall
16 fished
4th in pairs 😥

My third visit to Redhill Fishery and a new lake, Sophie's. Drew peg 6, which was in the corner and the same peg as Frank Donachie had last week....
There was a warm wind blowing into the corner, but there was more activity in the middle of the lake, fish topping and blowing.  But was hopeful to catch down the edge and I need to make up the weight we were behind.

However, the match didn't go to plan and the fish were feeding shallow, and therefore I fished as long to my left as possible, to give Liam some room, as he was on peg 8.  As it was tight when fishing long. I had 17 carp for 64lb.  Caught nothing down the edge, a little disappointed, Liam managed a couple.

Tackle Used

Colmic F66 Pole
Colmic Hollow competition elastic 2.1mm
0.1 Jon Walker pellet float
0.152 Colmic F1 Spider Line main line
0.125 Colmic Stream hooklength
18 Drennan match hook.

The new Colmic EC200 are awesome top kits, so stiff and light.

Well done to the two Gary's came second overall

Redhill Fishery

Peg 19 Molly's
9lb 8oz.
Last
8 pairs

My second visit to Redhill Fishery, had a good day on Penny's on Wednesdays open and learnt fair amount from the friendly locals.
Today's match for me was Molly's and was told to be looking for F1's and small carp.  I decided to go straight down the edge for a lucky carp and hooked one straight away and pulled really hard to get  it out, a good rest for the new Colmic Thor, as always Colmic poles are solid, a real carp pole.   Unfortunately the carp come off, I think it was foul hooked and played it for a good five mintues.  When down again and had one 2lb. Then bumped a small F1.   So rested it and caught nothing long in open water.... lake was fishing hard.
So went down edge again and caught 1lb carp and then hooked a three pounder and it got caught in the reeds.  Nightmare and float was connected to reeds and 0.152 Spider Line was still on fish. Put my landing net pole onto my 3rd section on my Colmic Thor and had 13 meters landing net pole... I couldn't scoop the fish.    Had no option but pull for a break... lucky enough the fish swam off and my rig was trashed and the same with swim.  Never caught down the edge again (well pricked one at death on proper gear).  Frustrating day.  Lost 4 proper carp down the edge, all pulled out.

Colmic Thor NX900

As always Colmic poles are very strong, and the new Colmic Thor NX900 is a carp/match pole.  The wall strength of the Colmic Thor NX900 is unreal, as you would expect from Colmic, this pole is more that capable of handling very large fish and huge match weights.

I used this pole for a few weekends.  Very impressed.  You have extensions that can take it to any length you wish...

Redhill Fishery

Peg 6 Penny's
58lb 2oz
1st place
11 fished

My first visit to Redhill Fishery, was a little surprised on the depth of Pennys, as its a good 14 foot deep at 14.5 meters.  So was a little unprepared.  However it didn't take too long to tie up a couple of rigs and I was away.  Done quite a few things wrong, but got it sorted in the end and just nicked top spot on the day.

I had 17lb of silvers and 40lb of carp.
The fish are stunning at Redhill Fishery
