M.A.M Final. Heronbrook

Peg 31 Bridge Pool
70lb 13oz
No good, second in my 5 peg section.
120 ish fishing.

The bonus of this peg was it was a short walk and the cafe was behind me!!!  Gary Watts came up for the ride and gave me some coaching and great sandwiches!!

I knew it would be tough here, but a few local anglers said I could have a great days fishing as theres loads of small stocky F1's in the area.... "could".

Started on a top kit plus one and caught a few F1's and unfortunately this died.... so when long, nightmare with cross wind.  Struggled for bites, and the oy fish I could catch was small carp... would maybe get two and then swim would be dead for ages.  Last 40 mintues was alright, caught a few F1's short and again and a couple of carp by the footbridge.  Unfortunately lost a unit at the death, which cost me £100 section.  It was in the chin, played it for ages.  Never mind.

Swindon Go On Tour 2019

Day One
Gwinear
Peg 16
112lb

I thought I brought everything to a match..... Rich brings a kitchen sink!!

I caught on paste at 10 metres in 9 foot of water was best.  I used fishery micros as paste and added some Betaine powered.  I won my section and came 4th overall.  Enjoyable day, wish I knew the venue better, as the peg was worth 150lb.  Neil Richards was third overall with 120lb (he had 138lb, but went over in his nets).

Day Two
Trewaters
Peg 23
42lb 9oz.  Really struggled, caught a few fish on the swinging rig to the island with 8mm pellets.  This was much better as micros was a nightmare with carp getting preoccupied.  However, come away frustrated, but optimistic for
Wednesday, as I wanted to put my wrongs right.

Day three
Gwinear

Drew peg 31.  Won section with 55lb 13oz.   Caught late on paste at 16 metres on the gravel bar.   The lake fished very well in places.

Day Four
Trewaters

56lb 7oz.  Thought I'd do better, feeding 8mm was the way forward.  Simon Gould (comfirmed this too) who is a great angler.  Gave me a bit more confidence, however this wasnt the case.  I had a nightmare.  Feeding fish that was impossible to catch.  Chased ghosts for too long.  Got my head down on paste and caught a few carp.... but struggled.  A few more fish would of saw me frame.  Very tight match.  Trewaters got the better of me. It is definitely my nemesis.  So much for putting my wrongs right?!

Day Five
Mawgan Porth

We haven't been to Mawgan Porth for a few years, such a beautiful venue.  Drew peg 25.  Fished worms in Hinders Tutti Frutti Expander mix and weighed 50lb 12oz, of mainly small skimmers, a few F1's and a carp.  This won the match.

Mawgan Porth.

50lb 12oz won the match.
Jason Robinson was second 43lb
Stitch was third 41lb
21 fished.

Festival results
1. Myself 317lb 13oz
2. Mark Baston 311lb 8oz
3. Neil Richards 308lb 3oz
4. Michael Lane 303lb 10oz

---
5. Jason Robinson 301lb 3oz
6. Jason Crump 270lb 4oz

Unlucky to Neil as he went over in both nets at Gwinear, 18lb he lost.  So really, I'm the winner by default.

Many thanks to Mark Baston who runs all our matches.  He does a great job.

Ian Garner Memorial Match - Wickwater

Ian Garner Memorial match.

Back to one of my old habits, South Cerney Angling Club.  Todays match was a pairs match, and I was Gillmans Lake and Dan Garner was on Staits.  We drew Peg 4, which put me on decent peg Gillmans, but Dan on the top end of Staits, which isn't the best, as the carp tend to be further down the lake.

I hoped for a few Tench, failed to catch one, lost one.  It wasnt the best conditions, bright sunshine and flat calm.  But had an enjoyable day catch 9lb 2oz of Roach and Rudd.  Got battered to my right..... bream weights!!!  The people who did catch Tench, caught them very early.  I went straight down my end in hope for a Tench and failed.

Magoo won the match 81lb individually and second in pairs with Terry.

Adi and Dave won the pairs

Raised £630 for charity. ♥️

Thanks to Garner family (Fran, Dan and Nui) for organizing the match and food.  Not many matches you have food at the beginning and end of the match.

All weights below.

Alvechurch Fisheries - Horseshoe

Peg 13.  Lucky for some??

First hour I started short on paste for a quick lump, a small carp and couple of skimmers.  Then went down my edge to catch one small carp.   The first hour saw me have 20lb.  Then caught odd fish against the flower pot, fished paste.  Last 40 mintues they finally came down my edge, too little too late.  Frustrating day.

Had 21 carp, 2 barbel, 3 skimmers and a chub.  Weighed 139lb, for 4th.

The venue fished really well considering the conditions.  Weights all around the lake.  Lowest weight was 50lb!

1st was peg 5 with 171lb (Steve B)
2nd was peg 18 with 161lb
3rd was peg 24 with 155lb

11 fished.
